I HAVE DECIDED TO

FOLLOW JESUS

If you have recently decided to put your faith in Jesus and entrust your life to Him, these crucial first steps will help you follow and deepen your relationship with Him.

“If anyone is in Christ, they have become a new creation. The old is gone. Behold, all things have become new!” (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Now that you have placed your faith in Jesus and entrusted your life to Him, you are a brand new person. You have not at all been given a second chance; you have been given something far more wonderful than that — you have become a new creation.

And as a new person recreated in Jesus Christ, we encourage you to nurture and grow in who you now are. Remember, the old you is gone. You have now become an altogether new person in Christ.

3 CRUCIAL FIRST STEPS TO GROW IN CHRIST

READ THE BIBLE AND PRAY. Prayer is you talking to God, and through the Bible God talks to you. Prayer is not complicated. It’s simply talking to Jesus who loves you and gave His life for you. Talk to Him throughout the day like you would talk to a close friend. No religious jargon needed. Also, set aside some dedicated time during the day to read the Bible. We recommend you start reading the Gospel of Mark. Through the pages of the Bible, you will grow to hear God’s voice leading and guiding you.

GET BAPTISED IN WATER. All followers of Jesus make the choice to be baptised in water. Jesus Himself set this example and has been followed by His disciples throughout the last 2000 years. We encourage you to make this a high priority as a key first step in following Jesus. READ THIS for more information on baptism in water.

JOIN A LIFE-GIVING LOCAL CHURCH. Community and friendship are important in following Jesus. This is sometimes called “fellowship.” Encouragement to keep growing in worship and in faith in Christ is crucial to your lifelong commitment to follow Jesus.

We invite you to explore Alabaster Church to be your home church that will help you be established in your faith, be equipped in your ministry, and be empowered for your God-given purpose. Everyone’s welcome!
